Well last night I brought the car out for a decent run. Went all along the coast past Clontarf etc and ended up in Portmarnock. Handy as I was able to give Gary a little run out in her and get the tail sliding for him (a tiny tiny bit but got a squeak out of the tyres).
Then it was back down the Malahide road, N32, M50 and back through Ballymun to Glasnevin.
Problems started at Collins avenue. She started surging as I was going at about 30mph down the ballymun road. I shifted down to see if I was just going too slow for 3rd gear and it didn't help. Then as I was slowing down for red lights, traffic, etc she'd just cut out. Felt like a no fuel scenario even though there's a load in her.
So next step is to check the condenser, contact points and to have a look at the carb to see if she's running lean. Nothing worth doing is ever easy eh?
more to come....
